April 12 - 14 Lake Argyle Resort

April 15, 2018 - Reading time: 2 minutes

On arrival at the WA border we had to pass through quarantine and surrender any fruit and vegetables including honey as well as losing one and a half hours. So we drove the extra fifty kms into Kununurra and shopped for the weekend then drove out to Lake Argyle. Fortunately for us we were able to select the best unpowered site in the park, with a 30 metre stroll to the infinity pool and lake views.

We booked on the sunset cruise with three other people and had a great time. The water in the lake is at the moment 26c and we had two wonderful swims. The lake was flat as, when we commenced the trip but a strong breeze blew up just prior to sunset and we saw lightning in the distance – by the time we returned it was clear that somewhere close was going get wet! It turned out to be us, but no damage done.

In setting up camp we noticed that the back of the Ute was not closing properly and a closer inspection revealed that two of the pop rivets that hold the tonneau cover in place had failed. So these have been replaced with two self taping screws and I will purchase more as it is likely the others will fail as well.

I mentioned above that we lost 90 minutes at the border, and it is taking some time to get used to! The sun now rises at 5.20am and sets at approximately the same time 12 hours later. So we are tending to both getting to bed and waking earlier.

We have had three wonderful days here, sitting relaxing and chatting to lots of people while enjoying the infinity pools and the superb views.
