November 4 – 7 Albany Gardens Caravan Park/ Fremantle side trip November 6

November 14, 2018 - Reading time: 2 minutes

We arrived at Albany quite early as it was only a fifty minute drive from Cheyne’s beach, set up the swag after giving Myrtle her first wash since Broome. We were so happy with the result that we also washed the car! Had a lovely stroll around town and finished up having a beer at the White Star one of the very old pubs around town.

The next morning we departed for Fremantle leaving the trailer behind to pick up my brother Michael and sister Helen. It was a fairly long and uneventful drive which we repeated the next day, after having a lovely meal at the ‘Local Hotel’ in South Fremantle.

On arrival back in Albany we set up Helen and Michael’s tents we drove out to the ‘Natural Arch’ and the ‘Gap’ which were suitable impressive. On Thursday we visited ANZAC Hill and the ANZAC National Centre which was very impressive – Albany being the departure point for the first two convoys of soldiers to go to war. Once again we finished the day with a beer and glass of wine, this time down at the waterfront bar. After dinner we once again went to ANZAC Hill and viewed the FIELD OF LIGHT Memorial.
