June 18 -23 Discovery Park Broome

June 28, 2018 - Reading time: 2 minutes

So back to Broome for our third and final visit. It was a fairly busy time with Anne departing on Tuesday after we had a lovely meal at Matsos on Monday evening. Had a lovely morning shopping ( not to forget a superb brekkie at the Shady Lane coffee shop) prior to dropping Anne at the airport. A plane delay gained us a few extra hours where we had lunch and beers!

The remainder of our time in Broome was dominated by resupplying groceries etc, getting tyres repaired a slow leak from a nail) and having two new bags made for our tables ( tables have no issues but the bags they came in were falling apart) and a little bit of social time.

We visited a large number of galleries but saw nothing that took our fancy (and that we could afford) and the Greg Quicke (BBC and ABC television series) which was both fascinating and eye opening. Managed to see five planets including Mercury which is rarely visible and then only for twenty minutes.

We checked out the Roebuck Hotel to watch Essendon play the Eagles and it was like a step back in time. The barmaids were in bras and knickers, wriggling bums flashing tits etc – ‘‘twas extraordinarily! But the service was shit .. both times I went to the bar it took over five minutes to get served. The big bonus was that we had to very quietly cheer for the bombers while everyone else in the pub was distraught over the score.

On Friday night had a great meal at Aarli’s with Peter and Maria Egan, and spent Saturday with them and Mark and Di Ireland at the Broome races. Unfortunately for me everybody else had a win but I did not even get close. Dinner with Mark and Di followed as we watched the Ireland/ Wallaby game. Mark felt that the Wallabies should have kept the pressure on and not gone for goal and the lead late in the game whereas I felt attempting the penalty was the right decision! What do you Think?
