March 19 – 21 Wintersun Caravan Park Alice Springs

March 26, 2018 - Reading time: ~1 minute

We are basically in Alice Springs for two purposes. Firstly to get both the car and trailer serviced and for me to organise my vinisection (otherwise known as a blood sucking!). I managed to organise the car booking for Tuesday using the recommendation of another Aussie Swag owner who was here last year. We knew there was a problem with the steering in the front RHS and suspected some damage to the rear suspension as well. Turned out that we had blown a rear shock absorber and needed to replace the ball joint and some other aspect of the steering. Overall the car was in very good shape but the bill was a shocker. We can get a refund on the shockies but need to send them to Brisbane ($170)from here!

The trailer was ok except for a magnet in the right hand brake having shat itself! The mechanic who worked on it was Matt Phillips a former student of mine at St Johns in Darwin ( he recognised me!). Vinisection is all set for next Tuesday.

While waiting for the trailer we visited the Northern Territory desert park… was excellent. The Birds of a Prey show (just like we saw with the kids in Darwin in 1999) was awesome, and the Nocturnal House with Bilby’s and Mala’s were our favourites, bird enclosures great.
