Up early and on the road to Blackhall and Barcaldine. Again the country is in excellent condition – just so green. Easy drive arriving just after 1pm.
First impressions of the shearing shed were to be honest poor. It was difficult to select were to set up as the natural shade areas were small, uneven with a number of exposed tree roots.
However, after setting up in the car park with shade provided by the shearing shed and some exploration around the shed we discovered it was a wonderful spot to settle down for two nights.
What a spot to watch the stunning sunsets! Laying in the two artesian baths with a beer or a glass of wine, biscuits and cheese entrees! Unbelievable colours 20 to 30 minutes after the sun had gone down. Equally impressive was the rise of the full moon directly behind us, and each morning the sunrise – just spectacular!
Whilst, talking spectacular, we caught up with friends from Brisbane at a small garden café called ‘Roses and things’ which is attached to a Barcaldine caravan park. I had a Rocky Rd cheesecake which was absolutely delightful. Would recommend it to anyone.
