Charlotte Plains via St George Thursday/Friday June 24/25

June 30, 2021 - Reading time: ~1 minute

Woke up at Hebel with a decision to make. It had rained fairly extensively overnight and many black soil dirt roads were closed. In addition the COVID reports from Sydney were fairly inconsistent while the Queensland Government was advising no travel to NSW.

Decided that caution was the approach to take and to return to St. George and plan a trip and head into south west Queensland. The local information centre was excellent and after a quick visit to River Sands Winery (highly recommend) we made our way to Charlotte Plains station to enjoy the artesian baths.

On arrival, we chose a site out the back of the extensive artesian stream –and the heavens opened about five minutes after setup – probably an inch in about 30 minutes.

Fortunately, the weather improved and we had two wonderful nights, lazing in the artesian baths, watching stunning sunrise and sets!

The only area of concern was that the fridge seemed to struggle to keep its temperature!
