August 18 – 20 Dongara tourist Caravan Park Port Denison/ Dongara

August 26, 2018 - Reading time: ~1 minute

Had a short 200 kms drive from Kalbarri to Port Denison, but in that time the countryside completely changed. Around Kalbarri we were still in red sand country, but about fifty kms south this turned into rolling green hills, green pastures and crops. Image description

Along the way we stopped in at Northampton, which is a lovely small village almost English in its atmosphere, where we had some magnificent vanilla slice ( grey nomad whispers put us onto this).

Dongara Port Denison, indeed this whole region of the West Australian coast is famous for Rock Lobster fishing, but unfortunately for us the factory was closed Saturday through to Tuesday, and it was not possible to purchase anywhere else.

Dongara is a pretty little town and we had some lovely walks along the beach, two wonderful meals at the hotel, visited the Illegal tender Rum distillery (why are Australian spirits so expensive ?) and basically had a very relaxing time
