August 3 – 4 Wooramel Station

August 15, 2018 - Reading time: ~1 minute

Left Kennedy Range and instead of returning via the main sealed roads, headed south along the Pimbee Road which eventually turned west and took us to the highway. It was a wonderful drive, no traffic, a good dirt road and superb wild flowers. Wooramel runs cattle sheep and goats and is named after the river that runs through the property. The river is an upside down one – the water is underground ninety per cent of the time, but provides excellent artesian bores and pools with a temperature of 33 degrees Celsius.

We had a lovely walk along the river bank seeing, some Rainbow bee eaters, magpie geese and numerous finches that we failed to identify! The evenings are certainly getting cooler, and we enjoyed our nights around the communal fire chatting with fellow travellers and getting recommendations for future stops.
