Yindilli camping ground -China Camp rd

Maureen had visited Yindilli on two school immersions eight years ago, and was particularly keen to catch up with CJ and Helen, whilst sharing her immersion story with me. Yindilli is an amazing piece of paradise in the rainforest between Cape Tribulation and the Lions Den Hotel. CJ has created a spectacular orchard with rainforest streams running out the back, gorgeously soft green grass, attracting stunningly beautiful birds such as Wompoo fruit dove and the Azure Kingfisher visiting each day. Additionally, just up the road is Roaring Meg falls, which cascade through the valley, over large granite boulders, even late in winter.

On our arrival we were given a traditional welcome to country via a smoking ceremony and on our final day CJ a traditional owner of the region took us to Caterpillar Rock – further upstream from the falls and a sacred site, where he showed us the tracks of the rainbow serpent, explained some of the creation story and where we had a beautiful swim.

Probably the highlight of our trip so far and one I would love to share with others – if you ever get the chance to visit do so but take a few days just to sit, relax and reflect upon the beauty. Image description Image description Image description
